COVID-19 SERVICE IMPACT NOTICE: With the goal of serving our community while prioritizing the health and safety of clients and staff, SBI currently offers virtual services (using Zoom). Inquiries from individuals, families, and organizations should be submitted to Karen Strasilla at or by calling us at 408-715-2205.
Services For Brain Injury (SBI) provides support for people with brain injuries and their loved ones. We understand the injury happened to the survivor as well as the family.
Touchstones is a support group for anyone touched by a brain injury that meets every Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at our office at 480 North First Street, San Jose. You do not need to register, call ahead of time, or pay any money — just come and join us Wednesday evenings.
Touchstones attendees support each other in discussions about recovery, jobs, volunteer work, housing, and relationships — both personal and professional within the community. A Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) facilitates the group. We also have caregivers on staff who can answer any questions you may have about brain injury and rehabilitation as well as help locate resources for you, all at no cost.
Touchstones is the longest-running support group for people with brain injuries and their loved ones in the Bay Area.
For information about Touchstones or to talk to a caregiver, please contact Karen Strasilla, SBI Operations Office, at 408-715-2205 OR e-mail KStrasilla@SBIcares.org.
