Bocce Tournament 2010
Thank you to everyone who contributed to SBI’s best Bocce Tournament ever! This year, our success is huge because of the 100 day delay in signing the State budget. We had the most people and fun, and the family who matched our gross proceeds of $30,000 is delighted at the outcome! As in past years, all proceeds are for programs that help people return to employment, keep their families together and work toward maximum independence. Thank you to all of our caring donors who together make SBI’s unique work possible!

Bay Area Brain Injury Task Force
The Bay Area Brain Injury Task Force (BABIT), a collaboration of government, healthcare, law enforcement, higher education, for-profit and non-profit organizations, is focused on increasing awareness about resources available to people with brain injuries. "A brain injury is a life-changing event," said Christine Camara, Executive Director, Services for Brain Injury.
"The number of brain injured people in the greater Bay Area has increased as service men and women return from Afghanistan and Iraq and need our help adapting to their new situation." said Julianna Brooks, VISN 21 Polytrauma Network Site Director, Palo Alto Veteran’s Administration.
Brain injuries can happen to anyone, though most brain injuries are preventable. Through mutual collaboration and community education BABIT strives to be a central catalyst in policy development at the local and state levels through education and networking with family members, communities, and elected officials.
BABIT membership includes: Services for Brain Injury, San Jose Police Department, San Jose State University, Santa Clara County Sherriff's Department, Veteran's Administration Palo Alto Healthcare System, State Department of Rehabilitation, Via Services, Santa Clara County Crisis Intervention Program, Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Rehabilitation Center.
